Okay, I know this has probably been posted before....but I'm looking for some new piratey music.

I currently love Great Big Sea and the album Rogues Gallery.

Any other suggestions for good groups/songs/albums? I'm always looking for new inspiration!

"Rogue's Gallery" is so great! What songs do you especially like to dance to?

My favorite song on there is called "Old Man of the Sea"......I think of a pirate and a mermaid dancing together.........

Other songs on there I love to dance to:

    "Hog Eye Man"

    "Good Ship Venus" (X-rated!)

    "Fathom the Bowl"

    "Long Time Ago"

    "Mingulay"

    "Bully in the Alley"

    "Cruel Ship's Captain"

"High Barbary" (Even though the pirates lost!)

"Baltimore Whores" (VERY XXX rated....but fun!) :-D

Did you ever hear of REVELS? They have some fine music....just came out with a "Celtic Roads" CD! (I think a LOT of Celtic music is extremely belly-danceable. )
    www.revels.org/

Here are their CD "Homeward Bound" which is basically SAILOR SONGS! (I haven't heard this one yet.)

    store.revels.org/homewardbound.aspx

At the bottom of that page, you'll also see CD's called "Blow, Ye Winds in the Morning" and "Revels Book of Chanteys and Sea Songs."
    Both worth getting!!!

My fav shanty group is The Corsairs. They performed at my local ren faire for years & years, but this past year was the last. Too many of them have moved away or gone to college, it's too hard to rehearse. However, many of their cds are still availible. A great a capella group, with occassional ukelele. The "Gold One" has most of their hits. And check their links page to find other pirate groups in your local area. ^_^ Nothing picks up a rotten day like switching my ipod to the pirate playlist, hours of sing-a-long fun!
